In 1997 two Foundation students at Central St Martins invented a fake student known as Frances Neil. Unbeknownst to staff at the time, this student was officially enrolled on the course, did all her work, and through rumours and hearsay was kept alive in the imaginations of others.

Over twenty years later the original creators of Frances Neil Rory Macbeth and Laura Lord revisit their differing memories of the events surrounding her short life through cyranoid conversation and facsimiles of the remaining documentation.
