Doubles is a curatorial strand of blip blip blip. Since its inception in Leeds, UK in 2013, the series has explored a spectrum of different artistic and educational relationships – from the intimately personal, such as a mother and daughter, to more distant artistic influences where the artists never met, as well as professional bonds between colleagues and ex-students. For this edition of Doubles, Steve Carrick has invited fellow artist and former colleague John Renshaw to exhibit with him.

Whilst this is the eleventh edition of the Doubles series at blip blip blip, it is the first Doubles exhibition to take place in Moscow. It is also the inaugural Blah Blah exhibition, a new curatorial strand at blip blip blip. The Blah Blah series of exhibitions accompany other shows, connecting and creating dialogues literally and curatorially between students and established artists.
Extending the theme of artistic exchange, six BA Contemporary Art students from British Higher School of Art and Design have interviewed Carrick about his practice while reflecting on and discussing their own work. These dialogues feature in the accompanying catalogue, adding another layer to the exhibition’s exploration of art pedagogy and creative dialogue.
